The scenario design is clearly intended that Hood should attack Sherman along Peachtree Creek. However, I simply declined to do so and withdrew into the Atlanta fortifications. If the Union player stands off you can not lose (or win, it will be a draw) but if he attacks you, victory is virtually assured in the Atlanta defenses.
If the Confederates do the wise thing and retreat into the Atlanta fortifications, there is not much left for either side to do. The South can just seek to run out the clock, and the North can either batter their heads in senseless frontal attacks or, run out the clock themselves. No fun for either side.
