11 October 1805 - Alternate - As Napoelon's La Grande Armee' mades its wide flanking move around Mack's rear, Ney had dispatched Dupont's division to watch to the northeast of Ulm near the village of Haslach. Mack's scouts detected the French in that area and the Austrians deployed into two columns to attack their position. The Left Column, which Mack accompanied, advanced on the village of Jungingen before the Right Column could get into place. The Austrian infantry found the 9th Legere waiting for them with the rest of Dupont's men on the way. The white columns flung themselves confidently on the village only to be pulled into a trap. Before long they were surrounded and over a thousand men became prisoners. Similar attempts to penetrate the village met with similar results. The cavalry took its turn and was able to press back and severely maul the French dragoons. Their pursuit took them out of the action. Finally the Right Column arrived but their action met with little success and the night finally fell on the battlefield with the Austrians having lost several thousands in another fruitless adventure. The next two days saw Napoleon encircle Mack and after the action of Elchingen saw his capitulation several days later. This version of the action adds in Mahler's division for the French to balance the numbers. The Right Column releases earlier. Best played Head to Head.
