The northern section of the Austertliz battlefield is known mainly for the confrontation by Lannes and Bagration but the Russian cavalry division of the V Column and Constantine's Russian Imperial Guard also participated along with Raffiniere's division from I Corps.
The villages of Bosenitz and Blasowitz defined the main boundaries of the engagement which saw the French repulse the Russian advance. This secured Soult's left flank and helped preserve his hold on the Pratzen.
