18 April 1808 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head or Solo as the Allied player vs. the AI (see RSW-Solo.pdf for Solo play victory levels) - This initial defense by v.Döbeln's 2nd Brigade was sufficient to hold up the Russians but his men were exhausted and supplies were starting to run low. As he his men attempted to cross the river the Russian flanking forces chose to launch their attack. v.Döbeln decided to attack them with a small force to buy some time but they were repulsed. By 5pm the 1st and 3rd Brigades arrived to form a new defensive line. Adlercreutz, seeing that the Russian line was thin, went over to the attack and drove the Russians back to the south. The Swedes had won a victory but were unable to exploit it as they were low on ammunition. To the rank and file they had learned that the Russians could be defeated. This helped to restore the army morale. Note: many of the Swedish and Russian units are short of ammunition. Both sides do not have ammunition wagons. Fatigue points have been assigned to both sides as a consequence of either their taking part in the earlier fighting or the long marching during the day.
