Charles's plan for the 21st called for the seizing of the town of Abbach on the Danube and with it the communications of the French III Corps with the remainder of the Army of Germany. Davout had other plans and with one division of Bavarians planned an attack of the Austrian left. This version features Charles holding back a brigade from II Corps for use as a reserve. Also the III Corps might intervene if Hohenzollern reacts to unfolding events.
