22 April 1809 - A lack of information leaves Charles uncertain of where to strike. The majority of the Austrian troops have been withdrawn to Ratisbon, while the IV Corps has marched in the direction of Landshut and into contact with the right wing of the Allied army. Now they must hold open the key road junction of Eckmuhl so that they can cross the river and march off safely to the south and link up with the southern forces which have fallen back from Abensberg.
