26 February 1807 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - Lt Gen. v. Plotz' orders were to hold Braunsberg on the right flank of L'Estocq's corps against the forces of the French I Corps. When Dupont's 1st Division of Bernadotte's I Corps approached the outskirts of the town the Prussian commander, rather than obey orders and have his command retire across the Passarge River to safety, sent his command flying to meet them west of the town. The Russian Kaluga regiment under Polkovnik Kazachkovsky were ordered to hold Stangendorf against the advancing Frenchmen of the 32nd and 46th Ligne regiments and the 2nd and 4th Hussars. In the south the 9th Legere and 5th Chasseur a Cheval regiments advanced to turn the Allied left flank. Plotz' reserve force of three battalions crossed the river to march to reinforce the line. What followed was a debacle of the first order with the Russians losing over 500 men out of the Kaluga regiment a couple of guns that had to be abandoned in the mud and the Prussians suffered a worse fate losing 1,500 men killed, wounded or captured during the rapid advance and pursuit of the Allied force through the town. The Prussians in particular did not perform well on the battlefield and thus their morale has been lowered one level to reflect this.
