149. Second Ostroleka: Massena's Counterattack! - WDS Campaign Eylau-Friedland

12 June 1807 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - The Russians were able to push the French back on the first day of the battle but with Massena's arrival things were different. Not only was he bringing with him Gazan's french 2nd Division but also along for the ride was the 5th Dragoon division. The Russians held on to Olszewo stubbornly but they were outnumbered and fell back across the Olmulew. The rest of the 9th Russian Division waited there and the French were met with cannon fire. While this staggered some of the columns the rest of Massena's men were able to flank the position and in no time the Russians were sent reeling back to Ostroleka. Their offensive had ended in failure. Once again any threat to the French right flank had been blunted.
