158. Friedland: Into the Sortlack Woods - WDS Campaign Eylau-Friedland

14 June 1807 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - In the early hours of the battle, the French arrived at Posthenen to find a small advance guard of Russian forces. Quickly ejecting them they then set out to hold the village and secure their right flank in the nearby Sortlack woods. Two elite battalions from Ruffin's brigade of Oudinot's entered the woods and did battle with Russian light troops. Neither was able to gain the advantage of the other thus setting up the numerous attempts by each side to control the woods during the battle. Note: Fatigue points added to the units reflecting the effects of marching to the battlefield over the course of the early morning.
