14 June 1807 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - The fighting in the Sorlack Woods has been fierce. The Russians had finally pressed the French back when Verdier's division of Lanne's Reserve Corps arrived. This division had taken 2000 losses at Heilsburg but nonetheless was tossed into the fray immediately in an attempt to recapture the woods and secure the right flank. Verdier's division was composed of a brigade of proven light troops and another of inexperienced Ligne regiments. The light troops overpowered the Egers but the Ligne regiments lost great numbers. They were not able to retake the entire woods. A lull descended on the battlefield after their attack which would not be broken until Napoleon gave the orders at 5pm for Ney to start his assault. More French and Russian forces would die while battling for this crucial area of the battlefield. Note: Losses have been deducted from and fatigue points added to the units reflecting the effects of combat over the course of the battle.
