(What If: 20 Turns, variable arrival times for the Confederates) Historically, Hood conducted a flank march around the Union position at Columbia in an attempt to cut them off at Spring Hill. However, what if Hood had changed his plan and instead decided to turn west and catch the Union army in the flank at Columbia? Schofield at last convinced that Hood's plan was to cut him off from Nashville, orders Stanley north with Wagner's division of the Fourth Army Corps. Meanwhile, the Union reconnaissance patrol sent out that morning has found the Confederate's advancing west and is stubbornly falling back towards Columbia. Can the remnants of Schofield's force left at Columbia survive the Confederate onslaught before reinforcements arrive? Can Hood consolidate his strike force and coordinate his attack or will delays thwart his plan?
