26 October 1806 (Historical) Zehdenick was a small affair fought between the Prussian GM Christian Ludwig Schimmelpfennig von der Oye's reduced command and the French cavalry commanded by GB 26 October 1806 - Historical - As the Prussian army retreated further to the north several hit and run affairs ensued. One such was Zehdenick. After crossing the Havel River early in the day, the Prussian rearguard under Schimmelpfennig was attacked outside of Zehdenick by LaSalle's cavalry. The Prussians managed to hold back LaSalle until Grouchy arrived. Despite cavalry reinforcements the French numbers were too great and the Prussians were destroyed. This battle typifies the actions that occurred after Jena-Auerstedt. Its a small to medium sized action and is a good training tool for beginner players (as the French) to try out head to head against more advanced opponents (as the Prussians).
