29-30 August 1813 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - Note: This scenario uses FIX times for all units. The Prussians will fix by 7pm of the 29th followed by the rest of the combatants at 9pm. All forces will release at 4am of the 30th followed by the Prussians at 5am. Following his victory at Dresden, Napoleon ordered his army to pursue the Army of Bohemia towards the passes to the south and trap as many of them if possible. The delay was slow to get started because he had no idea that the Allies had already started the retreat after the battle ended. Thus the French-Allied forces got a late start and the Allies were able to make some time on them. Vandamme's I Corps headed south down the main road to Bohemia. At Kulm he ran into the elements of Ostermann-Tolstoy's force. They turned to fight and hold the door open for Barclay's forces to be able to retreat across the Elbe. The first day's fighting saw Vandamme build up his strength slowly. For every attack he made the Allies were able to muster up more forces as they arrived to press back his I Corps. Eventually the Allies massed over 40,000 men and Vandamme knew that the day's fighting was over. Confident that Marmont and St. Cyr were soon to arrive on the 30th he prepared for action on the morrow but what actually happened was quite different than what he had expected! This scenario depicts the complete historical battle.
