16 October 1813 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - The Battle of Liebertwolkwitz had been fought on the 14th. The next day saw the Allies bring up more forces in the south and on the 16th they launched an assault on the main French positions to the south of Leipzig. The initial action was a see-saw affair with neither side really gaining much ground. The weather was damp and foggy during the morning. Napoleon brought up reinforcements to shore up his line and by the end of the day neither side could claim victory. If anything the Allies that day had kept the French forces tied down in other sectors and they were not able to reinforce the crucial southern front. Had Napoleon dealt the Army of Bohemia a defeat there is no doubt that the Battle of Leipzig would have turned out differently.
