16 October 1813 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - This action depicts the opening of the action on the first day of the Battle of Leipzig on the southern front around the village of Wachau, defended by Victor's II Corps. The Allies under Eugene consisted of two Russian divisions and a Prussian brigade which followed in behind some cavalry. The Russian advance was stopped cold by artillery fire and a French counterattack drove them back. The Prussians pressed on into the village and the woods but were unable to hold the former. The action ended with the Prussians holding the woods but with not much support at hand. Can the Allied player out perform the historical outcome?

The scenario favours the French defender in most cases. Much of the allied cavalry are cossacks who lack a charge bonus against anything other than routed infantry.

The French get a division of heavy cavalry as reinforcements. These can be used effectively to turn the allied flank and destroy artillery. Otherwise it's a slugfest for control of all the objective hexes.

The allies have superiority in numbers. But the French have quality and position on their side. And a division of cuirassiers arrives as reinforcements. The cossacks are next to useless.

The allies have to attack a strong position if they want to win. They have poor quality cossacks and the French have a division of elite heavy cavalry arriving later in the game.
