30 October 1813 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - Important: Uses 15 Minute Turns - After Leipzig, Napoleon attempted to hold back the Allies but he knew that his army was defeated and would have to retreat to France to replenish its formations. He chose to retreat to Frankfurt with the main body of his army and their path went near the city of Hanau which was held by the Bavarians. GdK Wrede had received reports that only about 20,000 French were approaching and decided to put his forces in the field north and east of the city. His Austro-Bavarian forces held very well until mid-afternoon when the majority of the French forces made it evident that the recon report was not trustworthy. The French were able to crush the line and force the Bavarians back to the west or into the city. This scenario covers the battle starting at 11am when the early French assaults on Wrede's lines began.

This scenario seems imbalanced because French losses cost the same as Austrian/Bavarian. French forces appear to be at full strength at the start. The French can take many more losses than what occurred historically yet still have a Major Victory. It was still enjoyable to play because the skill of my opponent made this very challenging.
