15 April 1796 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - Vukassovich knew of the repulse of the other Allied forces but decided to attack Dego anyway. A heavy rain and fog covered his advance and he fell on the disorganized French troops and routed them out of their positions. A small force La Salcette took refuge in the fortress for a time but broke out to the south rallying his men for a counterattack with the main French forces. Bonaparte and Massena arrived with reinforcements and reformed the troops for the attack. The entire battle raged for ten hours and only after a bitter struggle were the Allies repulsed. Although the Allies had taken Dego the French now held the key location and the Austrians were never again in the mountain campaign able to mount a serious offensive. The operations would not move over to the northwest against the forces of FML Colli gathered at the defense lines near Ceva. DESIGN NOTE: the French reinforcements arrive earlier than historically occured to avoid a long gap in the action that would occur otherwise.
