078. The Battle of the Trebbia - Second Day - WDS Campaign Marengo

19 June 1799 - Historical - Intended to be played Head to Head - The first day of the battle saw the Allies plan fail when the French reinforcements arrived along with the hesitation on the part of the Austrians to commit troops to Suvorov's right wing. The second day of the battle opened with a resuming of the hostilities. The French started the day off with an attack across the Trebbia. All efforts failed and by mid afternoon they were barely holding their own. By the end of the day the decision was well in favor of the Allies. The third day (not included in the game) was a blow out. The Allies fell on the French positions with a fury and MacDonald's army was routed off the field of battle. Expected French reinforcements never materialized. Suvorov and the Allies had won a great victory.
