Fitzhugh Lee's Confederate cavalry held the crossroads of Old Cold Harbor on the evening of May 30th, 1864. The next day, Union cavalry under the command Generals Torbert and Custer determined to take the crossroads from the Confederate horsemen. This affair raised the curtain on the Cold Harbor Campaign.
