(HISTORICAL) --BATTLE OF DUNAGIN'S FARM (also known as Battle of Little Sugar Creek) -- This fight was the first real battle in the state of Arkansas during the Civil War. On Feb. 17th, 1862 the rear guard of the retreating Confederate/Missouri State Guard army under Col. Henry Little, with the help of Col. Louis Hebert's brigade of Gen. Ben McCulloch's Army of the West, turned back with heavy loss a pursuing force of cavalry at Dunagin's farm, a little over a mile south of Little Sugar Creek. However, with the arrival on the field of Col. Eugene Carr's 4th Division, the Southern forces withdrew at 4 pm, leaving the field to the Federals.
