Following the rout of the Union IX Corps, Heth made plans to crush the remaining Union troops on the field and claim a great Victory. To stop Heth and the Confederate advance, General Meade ordered the remaining divisions of Parke's and Warren's Corps to form a battle line and advance toward the Boydton Plank Road. The day was all but spent, and it would soon be dark. Take charge and engage the enemy.
