(W stands for Weather data is used) By late March, time was running out for Lee's army and for the Confederacy. There were but three options, 1) Make peace, 2) Retreat and attempt a link up with Johnston's army in North Carolina, 3) Fight!!! With President Davis totally against the first option, and the second not possible given the current circumstances, Lee was determined to fight. But only enough of a fight that would allow for an orderly retreat from Petersburg. To stay meant defeat, and it would only be a matter of weeks. To help him devise an attack plan. Lee chose General John B. Gordon. The plan was relatively simple, but it's execution would be extremely difficult. First, find a weak point in the Federal line, and attack with complete surprise. That point was found at Fort Stedman. What followed would prove to be the last great charge of the Confederate army. It's outcome would ultimately prove decisive. As the Confederate commander, can you succeed in dividing the Union Army and prolonging the war indefinitely. Note: Drive for the exit hex at 24,3 and earn massive victory points by exiting your units. Toggle your remove from map option.
