With the defeat at Sailor's Creek, General Lee was left with very few options that would end with a favorable result. But even at this eleventh hour, there was still hope. With the Union army in hot pursuit, Lee ordered that his Army of Northern Virginia should cross over to the northern side of the Appomattox River, burn the bridges and shake Grant long enough to Join Johnson's army in North Carolina. Longstreet would enter Farmville from the south side of the river, feed his troops with waiting rations, cross over to the north side, and burn the bridges. Gordon, and Mahone were to cross over using the High Bridge, then burn it. NOTE: In this scenario, the High Bridge cannot be destroyed, but the bridges at Farmville can. These follow the historical events.
