(Historical) A couple weeks following the Battle of McDowell, Union and Confederate forces clashed again near Front Royal. With a better knowledge of the Valley topography, General Jackson moved his army of 16,000 men and attempted to divide the Union army, commanded by Major General Nathaniel Banks. As a first step, Jackson sent Colonel Munford's cavalry, east from Cedar Point, to cut off communications between Front Royal and Washington D.C. On May 23rd, Confederate cavalry approached Front Royal from the south and were confronted with about 1,000 Union troops attempting to block and delay this advance. As the CSA commander, push out the Union forces near Front Royal.
