(Historical) The Confederates attacked a line of Union pickets in front of Summit Point, on the 21st of August. This attack by Confederate Gen. Richard Anderson, along with another same day attack by Jubal Early, were attempts to disrupt and disorganize the Union army in the Valley, now commanded by newly arrived, Union Maj Gen. Philip Sheridan.
