(Historical) Having defeated the Confederates at Fisher's Hill, Union Maj. Gen. Philip Sheridan pursued Early to Staunton. Later, Sheridan began to withdraw and was in turn pursued by Confederate cavalry. On the 9th of October, the Federal cavalry turn to fight near the base of Spiker's Hill in the area known as Tom's Brook.
