(What If) Both armies are nearing the Pittsburg Landing area. Confederate General A.S. Johnston hopes to catch Grant's army by surprise. A decisive victory could regain central Tennessee for the southern cause. But Johnston must act quickly because Buell's Army of the Ohio is fast approaching. Neither army is sure of their enemy's location. (This variant uses the Confederate troops that could have been saved from Fort Donelson during the breakout attempt on Feb 15th. Also, entry times are variable)

The initial set up allows the CSA player to grab an interior line position of the few roads available and using it's huge advantage in high quality, high size units, repeatedly rout the disorganized Union units, which with variable arrival and only a single road to use, come on in a real mess. Overall the Shiloh OOB seems too high quality for such early war formations, and in this scenario in particular, that fact combined with the map limitations and variable entry make this unplayable except as CSA against the AI for cheap thrills.
