21 May 1809 (Alternate) - The first day at Aspern-Essling saw some of the most fiercest fighting in the campaign. This was especially true of the battle for the Essling Granary, a huge building that dominated the country side. Like a fort it controlled the road and drew the Austrians like a magnet to its gate. Defended by the .... regiment its control was vital for the French. The Austrian Fourth Column under Rosenberg attacked in a disjointed fashion. This is depicted in the scenario by the Austrians being fixed and various formations being released at various times throughout the battle. In this version of the famous engagement Napoleon has sent the Young Guard to help defend Essling. Two battalians arrive shortly after the main assault begins.
