Date: February 9th, 1098 - Size: Medium - Location: Outside the city of Ascalon
Crusade: 1st Crusade
Scenario Briefing: As the siege of Antioch continued into its fourth month, a relief force of nearly 10,000 Turks, led by Radwan of Aleppo, marched out to crush the crusaders and end the siege. To counter this threat, Bohemond of Taranto gathered a force of less than 750 heavily armored knights on horseback with a plan to surprise and rout these forces before it could engage the crusaders and unite with the besieged Turks.. Bohemond's force would be greatly outnumbered and only the hope of surprise could bring victory.
How will your forces defeat the enemy?
NOTE: Due to the congested roads, early morning darkness, and orders to camp before moving on to Antioch, Radwan's right wing will start fixed, as will a part of his left wing rear guard Turks.
Recommended Rules: [Default]
Intended to be played as the Crusader Alliance against the Islamic Alliance A/I or Head-to-Head.
Note: When playing HTH, the Crusaders will have the greater challenge to defeat the Muslim army. The advantage slider can be used to offset this numerical advantage, if needed.
