Crusade: 1st Crusade

Scenario Briefing: It's been 4 years since Pope Urban II gave his speech in Clermont. For the Crusaders, it's been a hard road to finally see the holy city of Jerusalem. The city that each of them swore an oath to free from the Muslims. The years have been hard on both their bodies and minds. Only about a quarter of those that started have arrived to see the holy city, about 15,000. But their quest to take Jerusalem is far from complete. A deadly and determined foe resides within its walls.

For as much as the Crusaders wish to take Jerusalem, so too its Muslims defenders are determined to maintain control of the third most holy city to those that follow the faith of Islam. This scenario represents the final day of a 6 week siege. Raymond of Toulouse has positioned himself along the southern walls, and the rest, the Northern side.

For the Crusader, use your archers to weaken the wall defenders and move your siege engine into a position where the walls can either be brought down, or scaled. You have two siege towers, you them wisely. If destroyed, your quest will likely end in failure.

For the Muslim commander, the choice of where to place his reserve defenders won't be easy. One choice is to wait for a section of the wall to collapse and then defend the interior. Another choice is to take some or all of your reserves and leave the enclosure to counter-attack the Crusaders and stop their advance before the walls are brought down. Choose wisely and act decisively. Your survival depends on it.

Prepare yourself, the final battle is upon you. Or is it the final battle?

Remember, only units that have a strength of 75 or less may use a siege tower to reach a wall hex.
