Crusade: 1st Crusade
Scenario Briefing: Jerusalem has fallen to the Crusaders and the Fatimids were determined to retake the holy city. In fact, their assembled army was intended to reach Jerusalem before it was taken and attack the besiegers.
With the city fallen, the Fatimids, under the command of Al-Afdal, rested at Ascalon before pushing on to Jerusalem. However, before they could do this, Tancred captured several Muslim scouts moving toward Jaffa and revealed that there was a great host camped outside Ascalon.
With this information, Tancred sent word to Godfrey, the new "Protector" of Jerusalem and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Godfrey rallied the other Crusader leaders, albeit with great difficulty, and marched to Ascalon to confront this new threat.
Though, the Fatimids outnumbered the Crusader army 2 to 1, the crusaders would have the element of surprise on their side. With darkness still looming over the camp, the Crusaders are within range to charge and surprise their enemy.
Note: For this scenario and to simulate the element of surprise and overall disorganized state, the Fatimids are deployed in a fixed and disrupted state. Additionally, they are facing in various directions. As the Fatimid player, you must organize quickly and prepare your defensive lines before the Crusaders can utterly destroy this great army sent to retake Jerusalem.
Prepare for battle, the Sun is just on the horizon.
Recommended Rules: [Default]
Intended to be played as the Crusader Alliance against Islamic Alliance A/I of the Fatimid Caliphate forces but can be played from either side or as Head-to-Head.
