Date: May 7th, 1100 - Size: Medium - Location: The City of Melitene
Crusade: Period between 1st and 2nd Crusade
Scenario Briefing: Following the fall of Jerusalem in 1099 by the Christian Crusaders, there was much unrest in the land, and the Muslims were eager to avenge their defeat.
The army of the Seljuks were not ready for peace. Raiders roamed the lands that the crusaders had stolen. One such place was the city of Melitene. At this time, it was garrisoned by Greek Orthodox Armenians and the city was led by a former Byzantine officer named Gabriel.
To the north, were the Danishmend Turks, part to the Seljuk Empire. They were continuously raiding and harassing the city of Melitene. Finally, Gabriel sent word to his ally, Bohemond I of Antioch. Bohemond, one of the leading Princes of the First Crusade, responded and sent an army of about 300 mounted knights and 5,000 foot soldiers. However, the Turks were ready. Perhaps their provocations against the city of Melitene was intentionally designed to bring forth the response sent by Bohemond.
The scenario will recreate the battle and provide each player the opportunity to gain everlasting glory
Note: In this scenario, the city of Melitene is not the intended target for the Turks. A victory hex has been set up just to the south of the city gate. For the Turks to win, they will almost certainly have to occupy this hex when the last turn is played.
Now, pick your side and let the battle begin.
Recommended Rules: [Default]
Intended to be played as the Crusader Alliance against the Seljuk forces Islamic Alliance A/I for the greater challenge, but can be played from either side or Head-to-Head.
