(Alternative 20 minute turns) Assault at Port Hudson: There is very little specific information on the deployment of forces for the initial assault on Port Hudson, which took place on 27 May, 1863. The investment of the fortress was assured on 21 May, when a small Confederate force was pushed out of Plains Store about five miles east of Port Hudsond. Two Union divisions came down from Bayou Sara, and linked up with two divisons pushing up from the south, and four or five days was spent with the Federals bringing up all their forces and siege artillery. The proposition of this scenario is to compress that prep time and give the Union player from the afternoon of the 25th until the evening of the 27th to capture the fortress. The Union has naval support; the southerners are on their own. Reference: "Port Hudson: Confederate Bastion on the Mississippi" by Lawrence Lee Hewitt
