(Alternative 20 minute turns) Assault at Port Hudson: The initial assault on Port Hudson took place on 27 May, 1863. The investment of the fortress was assured on 21 May, when a small Confederate force was pushed out of Plains Store about two miles off the east edge of the battlefield. Two Union divisions came down from Bayou Sara, and linked up with two divisions pushing up from Baton Rouge, and four or five days was spent with the Federals bringing up all their forces and siege artillery. This scenario begins with the forces in place, and gives the U.S. player only one day to accomplish the conquest of Port Hudson. The Union has naval support, the southerners are on their own.
