(Alternative 30 minute turns) This is the big picture of the Union's harried withdrawal from the Red River Campaign, featuring the retreat of the Army from Cloutierville to Alexandria, and the navy's odyssey From Grand Ecore. After the Battles of Mansfield and Pleasant Hill, CS Gen Kirby Smith decided to take the bulk of his forces to Arkansas to overwhelm Steele's army advancing from the north, leaving MG Richard Taylor with few troops to pursue Banks' army and the federal fleet, but Taylor sees an opportunity to trap Banks on Cane Island, away from his naval support. This scenario will feature the Battle of Monnett's Ferry, should the sides decide to fight there, and potentially a series of running fights by the navy, Gunboats versus Cavalry!
