0930 03 March 1943. Operation No. 81 was the Japanese attempt to reinforce the garrison at Lae with 6900 troops of the 18th Army. The bad weather initially provided cover for the movement. However the dawn of the 3rd broke clear. Land based aircraft were sent from Lae to provide air cover, but a well coordinated attack by three groups of American and Australian fighters was already inbound from the southwest. **NB This scenario is designed mainly for US play vs IJN AI.**
