0539 18 August 1914. At the outset of the war both sides sent light forces to operate in enemy home waters. A force of light cruisers led by the Stralsund was returning home when she encountered a pair of British subs operating on the surface. The subs were out of position to attack and the British destroyer force operating in the area was concerned with meeting a larger force and did not press their advantage. In this hypothetical variant, Cruiser Force C and the 1st Scouting Group are in support of their respective forces.
