1330 08 December 8, 1914. Von Spee's squadron approached the Falkland Islands planning to bombard the facilities before steaming for home. Unbeknownst to him, Vice Admiral Sturdee had received reinforcements in the form of two battlecruisers. Sturdee was in the midst of fueling before heading to the coast of Chile the next day in search of von Spee. Von Spee's force was spotted on the approach and the grounded battleship Canopus opened fire at long range. Von Spee had no choice but to make a run for it. The British pusuit was a bit haphazard, but in the end effective. Von Spee's unfortunate colliers were also hunted down and sunk after Studee tasked a pair of light cruisers and an armoured merchant to intercept them, fearing they were in fact transports. The scenario joins the action at the point that von Spee scattered his force, in hopes of some ships being able to make good their escape. See Battle of the Falklands %4.bmp
