Scenario Briefing: (Historical) The battle of Lubina was perhaps the most critical stage of the entire Russian campaign. The battle offered the French the opportunity to trap much of the Russian army, which was withdrawing from the recent fight at Smolensk.

Junot's failure to act with his VIII corps allowed the Russians to escape the field and turned a potential campaign ending battle into a successful Russian escape.
