Single Battle - The Battle of Tarutino, Historical (40 turns, Medium) - October 18, 1812 - By Mid-October the Russian army had recovered sufficiently from the huge losses at Borodino to contemplate going on the offensive. Bennignsen had proposed a plan to destroy Murat and his over-extended command which was watching the Russian camp at Tarutino. Bennigsen's plan should have succeeded but was not pursued with sufficient energy. The battle did convince Napoleon to begin his withdrawal from Moscow. The lack of a total Russian success meant the end of Bennigsen's service with Kutusov.
