Scenario Briefing: The Battle of Borodino (Hypothetical)

The Swedes advance relentlessly towards Moscow while the Russians receive replacements and call for reinforcements from their other armies. Finally about 100 kilometers from Moscow they occupy a strong position to make a stand. The Swedes move into position for the decisive clash they have been seeking.

The forthcoming battle will decide the campaign as a Russian defeat will mean that Moscow will be lost. While a Swedish defeat will mean a long retreat without supplies and the likely destruction of their army.

The Russians have taken up a strong position around a village called Borodino. The left flank is covered by a heavily wooded area, in the center are the village and some low hills, with the right flank more open. The Russians have placed themselves in defensive positions. The Swedes are preparing to assault the Russian positions.
