Scenario Briefing: The Battle of Koniecpol (Historical)
The pro-Swedish Polish forces, supported by a Swedish corps, have been trying to break through the defending pro-Russian Polish forces, also with a Russian corps in support. If the pro-Swedish forces can break through they will open up a supply route to the main Swedish army and possibly even be able to send reinforcements. Clearly something the pro-Russian forces do not want to happen. After some inconclusive skirmishing and maneuvering the two Polish parts of the army face each other at Koniecpol.
The armies are evenly matched but are mainly cavalry but both have some dragoons which can dismount to fight. The pro-Russian forces have a small number of infantry units. The pro-Russian forces have occupied a good position on a small hill. The pro-Swedish forces attacked and had some initial success but were eventually beaten back by the pro-Russian forces.
