Scenario Briefing: The Action of Mingolsheim - Mansfeld's Anti-Imperialist army had attempted to march towards Heidelberg to prevent Tilly from capturing the city, but found Tilly's army in a strong blocking position at Wiesloch and decided to fall back and join forces with Georg Friedrich of Baden-Durlach before risking a major battle. Tilly pursued Mansfeld's retreating troops and caught up with them at Mingolsheim whilst they were crossing the swollen Klein Bach stream. After some initial success, the Catholic League forces rashly crossed the bridge in pursuit and suffered heavy losses after being counter-attacked by Mansfeld. After this setback, Tilly fell back to Wimpfen to link up with Spanish reinforcements under Cordoba.
