1230 10 Aug 1904. The Russian Pacific Fleet at Port Arthur was wary of Togo and his Japanese fleet with good reason. When they left the relative safety of Port Arthur, Togo was usually waiting for them. In one voyage, they surprised Togo by not returning to Port Arthur, but instead sailing to join other Russian forces at Vladivostok. Togo and his fleet was then faced with a chase to catch up.
