Scenario Briefing: Historical - The Death of Charles II of Austria set the stage for the upheaval of the War of the Austrian Succession.
Frederick II, the newly crowned King of Prussia, saw opportunity in the accession of Maria Theresa. The time was right to grab Silesia.
The first major battle of the war would come near the town of Mollwitz when Frederick's inexperienced but well drilled army would meet a slightly smaller Hapsburg force. The battle started poorly with the Prussian Cavalry being driven from the field, and Frederick fleeing. However, the steady Prussian infantry under the watchful eye of FM Schwerin would hold firm and then drive the Austrians off. While this was not Frederick's finest day, the legend of the Prussian Infantry started here.
