Scenario Briefing: Alternate - After two months of stalemate outside Velletri, Austrian commander Lobkowitz elected to break the deadlock with a bold stroke. FML Browne, with a picked force of cavalry and infantry, made an overnight march to attack Velletri from the south. With the element of surprise, it was hoped that Carlo III, the Bourbon King of Naples, might be captured in his quarters.

Meanwhile, a diversionary attack and a further demonstration, both directed against the Spanish outposts on Monte Artimisio, would hopefully draw off the enemy's attention and prevent an effective response.

Historically, the Neapolitan cavalry south of Velletri panicked and fled at the Austrian advance, disordering the infantry and allowing the Austrians to break into the town. This variant starts one turn later than the standard scenario, and reflects that panic.
