Scenario Briefing: Historical - With the main focus of the Jacobite Rising on Prince Charles' invasion of England, both parties also sought to secure - or improve - their positions in Scotland. The Earl of Loudoun had been tasked with pacifying the highlands and restoring order in the name of King George, while the arrival of French troops had given a boost to Jacobite efforts in the area around Aberdeen. Lord Louis Gordon, the renegade Royal Navy officer commanding the Aberdeen Jacobites decided to mount an attack on the Government outpost at Inverurie, held by men of the Independent Highland Companies under Norman MacLeod of Clan MacLeod.

With Loudoun away dealing with the threat posed by Clan Fraser, and the Clan Grant Levies disbanded for want of arms, Gordon reckoned that MacLeod was exposed. Dividing their forces for a two-pronged attack, the Jacobites were able to successfully seize Inverurie and drive off MacLeod's forces.

This scenario starts at 3.00, with Gordon and his Right Column in place ready to attack, but with the Left Column still marching up. With the winter night approaching, should the Jacobites wait to unite their forces or strike at once?
