Scenario Briefing: Variant - The final showdown of the '45 Rising saw a revitalized Government army under the Duke of Cumberland face a hungry and exhausted Jacobite force on Drummossie Muir east of Inverness. Though the highlanders on the Jacobite right charged home into the face of Government musketry and cannister, the left of the line never reached close-quarters while the Government cavalry successfully turned the Jacobite flanks.

His army destroyed, Prince Charles fled into exile and the last hope of a Stuart restoration went with him.

Note: Field hexes in this scenario represent rough moorland terrain.

This variant gives the Jacobites two extra battalions that historically were in the area but not present on the field, as well as the Earl of Crommartie's command which in reality had been sent north in a doomed attempt to rendezvous with a French gold shipment. In addition, it is assumed that the night movement against Nairn did not happen, ensuring that the whole Jacobite force is fresh for battle.
