Combat of Maya: 25 July 1813 - This 36 turn scenario covers just the initial three hours of the action and there is very little chance of the British receiving any reinforcements from 7th Division. Soult's plan to relieve Pamplona meant the recapture of the Maya pass that had been abandoned on 8 July. General d'Erlon with 21,000 men, positioned Maransin's division on the main road with orders to wait until Darmagnac's division - with Abbé's division in reserve - could advance from Espelette and secure the eastern end of the ridge. Meanwhile, Stewart had been distracted by the gunfire of a French diversionary attack and had ridden south to Aldudes, leaving the British 2nd Division leaderless. Only the two British brigades of 2nd Division were defending the Maya pass, since the Portuguese brigade was deployed farther south at Izpegui Pass.
