Orthez 27 February 1814 - Short Version, ending around the time the French line broke. To Wellington's surprise, Soult decided to fight a defensive battle north-west of Orthez, despite being aware that Hill's troops were in a threatening position south of the river. Wellington sent Beresford to attack the French right at St. Boes, while Picton, supported by Somerset's cavalry, advanced against the enemy center. The Light and 6th divisions would cross the pontoon bridge at Benrex and support Beresford and Picton respectively. Finally, Hill would cross the river at Souars and attack Harispe at Orthez.
